Bodegas Barbadillo The Barbadillo family started wine making in Sanlúcar de Barrameda in 1821. Situated at the estuary of the Gualquivir River, this town soon became famous for making a style of Sherry known as "Manzanilla" which today has its own denomination within the region. Barbadillo produces its wines from 500 hectares of its own vineyards in the Jerez Superior region, famous for the chalky, white "albariza" soil considered to be the very best for the Palomino grape production. With 17 different Bodegas throughout Sanlúcar and some 65,000 "butts" (600L barrels) of Sherry, Barbadillo has the ability to produce and blend exquisite wines of all styles and ages.
