Originally famous for the production of Port, the Douro is now increasingly becoming known for the production of high quality red and white wines. Since 1999 Altano has been the flagship brand for the table wines produced by Symington Family Estates, famous for producing Graham's, Dow's and Warre's Port. It is now apparent that this region is capable of producing wines that can rival the very best in the world, yet due to the unique terroir and grape varieties they have a highly distinctive character and style not to be found in any other part of the world.
